Went to The Mines this morning for some blank DVDs. Went to the pirated games shop and found Fallout 3 sitting nicely next to Red Alert 3 in the new releases section. Sadly enough, I can't play this game since my lovely PC is to old for the game. I just don't know when am I going to play the game. I once kept a Diablo CD for a year until I managed to find a Pentium. Until now, I have played all the three releases before Fallout 3 including their add-on and fans mod version. Hit the jump for a history lesson.
Fallout 1
It was after Raya in 1997, the year the game was released. I went to Plaza Phoenix Computer World (Plaza Phoenix went bankrupt and now is a very large ghost house, or a protistution center, nobody knows) with my brother, spending off my duit Raya. It was the cover, the Power Armor that attracted me so much.
Bought it for RM15 (pirated CD came with that price at that time). Installed it and amazingly, they game almost like Ultima 8 Pagan (my previous post). With the 3D isometric view, the interesting dialog options, weapons and graphic, it was an instant win. With Ian, Tycho, Dogmeat and a punk girl, Katja we defeated the mutants and their evil plan. That's was long after we found the "water chip" for Vault 13.
I love the game so much that I kept the center spread of The Star's In Tech newspaper review on the game. Unfortunately, I used the paper to torched Lucas the mutant's eyes for trying to disturb my mom's Maghrib prayer years ago. Luckily, with the "Bloody Mess" trait, I made a critical hit. Lucas lost 769 hit points thanks to me.
Trivia: The voice of the Mayor of Junktown, Killian Darkwater was played by Richard Dean Anderson. You will certainly know him with the next word: McGyver.

Bob's Iguana Bits. Tell me Bob, does your Iguana-on-Sticks have the Halal certification?

Fallout 2
Then came Fallout 2. The gameplay was long compared to Fallout 1. They removed lots of "talking heads" and used the memory for more location. There were more NPC which I can recruit, including a robot, robot dog, Marcus the Mutant (one of the best NPC), a deathclaw and you can get married to a woman, or man, depending on what you choose and your wife or husband will suck big time in combat.
Fallout 2 was the greatest. I have my own car with a trunk that I store my minigun, laser gun, plasma gun, 700 tons of ammunitions, 12 dozens of Advanced Power Armor... yada yada and finally my party managed to recover GECK - The Garden of Eden Creation Kit for my village (My character is the decendent of the first vault dweller from Fallout 1, which have been rejected re-entry to holy Vault Thurteenn, where lots of people take shelter from the atomic bombs, safe from the radiation).
Again, I love the game so much that one day, another friend of mine was playing it at his home when I visited him. He was following the walktrough one by one, then at one time, I taught him how to free Mr. Sulik without paying the debt or saving a "trapper". He then deleted the walkthrough and called me every minute when I got home to help him.
Since I memorized the game very much, after playing it for 20.4 megazillions times, I helped him until the end. I heard years after he moved to Sabah, he built a temple and worships me. He also turned gay because he adored me so much and I am no way going to see him if he's in town. Hey, my Gattling Cannon did not kill for a long time. Maybe I'll have him.

Me, with my car, my dog, my ghoul doctor, Lenny, visiting a power plant.

Fallout Tactics: The Brotherhood of Steel
This time, with almost the same graphics and stuff, the gameplay was changed into a turn-based strategy game, given the ability to control a team of six member which you can control everything about them. You can go to the battlefield naked, but the mutants, ghouls, reavers and everyone would be jealous of my "weapon".
If you travel to a certain location, you can recruit the holy "Pipboy" into your group and/or Dogmeat from Fallout 1 (being the most popular character in Fallout). After playing it for 19megazillion times and never got bored, I went to the internet and found some modifications, and also, the character modificition for this game. See below

Nuar - Seorang yang skema, bijak pandai dan kelakar. I can't show my description because everytime I clicked on it, the game crashed, I'm too amazing.

So now I have to save a ringgit each day, and hopefully after 2500 days, I will manage to afford a new computer. Could try shooting a Securicor so called armored van at the nearest CIMB with my Gauss gun though. HAH!
Oh yeah, those little kids that keep saying Fallout 3 is the best and whatnot tell me have you played previous Fallouts? Have you met Gizmo? Have you met Frank Horrigan? Have you tried killing him using only hip jabs? with 6 action points? Have you ever asked Myron (it's Myron baby!) to create stimpacks for you? Oh noes, it's just too much that you don't know. I pinch my pimple on your face!
Takbur kuasa lapan~
