Oh shit! I summoned a daemon. I thought that spell is going to heal the person but now he's dead. Learning four magics, Necromancy, Theurgy, Thaumaturgy and Sorcery at the same time is quite confusing. Oh hi! I'm currently playing my all time favorite game, Ultima 8: Pagan. 8? yes eight. There's actually nine, and one online and tons without the numbering released in the Ultima game series. Hardcore fans said number 8 is the worst but it's the first one that I played and it is an amazing game. I think Ultima 9: Ascension is the worst. With the Tomb Raider-like perspectives, it just makes me dizzy.
After almost 10 years I finally managed to make the game run properly, with midi and sound effects as this DOS game cannot run completely or perfectly after Windows95 came out. Two days ago after extensive research and writing my own program so that the game sound will communicate directly to my soundcard, bypassing the window system. Okay. I lied. Someone else wrote the program for DOS game's sound.
I started to play the game circa 1994. The year which SKYNET was supposedly to have war with the Resistant but Mr. Connor decided to send a Cyberdyne Systems Model 101 using Doraemon's time machine to save his mother and himself from SKYNET's Metal Liquid T-1000. The ORIGINAL CD came with my superadvanced CREATIVE 2x CD-ROM drive. At that time, when I said to my friends that my PC just got upgraded with 2X CD-ROM drive, they don't want to be my friends anymore. I know they are completely jealous.

Mother, I wish to eat only with spoon and fork from now on because I'm afraid I'll burn my nose hair.
Ultima 8: Pagan is about The Avatar, a hero of his lands (Brittania and Earth), if I'm not wrong, who was banished by The Guardian to another world - Pagan, where the people worships four Titans; Lithos the Titan of Earth, Hydros the Titan of Water, Stratos the Titan of air and Pyros the Titan of fire. So to leave the place and defeat The Guardian, the only chance that you know is by learning all of the Titan's magic from their followers except the magic of Hydros which can only be pass through marriage. Then there is Thaumaturgy which was created by an old hermit which can be learned by buying books from him. and Still 4 magics to be learned.
The first time I played the game, it was scary, with the ghouls, skeleton warriors and some nasty monsters loves my character The Avatar very much they decided to bring him to their realm by killing him. I was unable to understand that the game have plots to be followed. After years of playing it, with new things or plot discovered each time I restarted the game from the beginning, I've completed the game 809234702 times and re-wrote the game manual which includes the spells and diagrams with pencils. I've known about the pentagram, the name of every tips on it years before the first leader of the black metal in Malaysia decided to become a black metal. I just love the sound of the "crunchiness" each time The Avatar steps on the grass.
The Avatar even made an appearance in the last level of Dungeon Keeper, which you need an army of Horned Reaper to capture or kill him. Capturing The Avatar in Dungeon Keeper is always the best choice for me since after converting him to your side, you can posses him and play as him again, in a different game.

The first time I played, I didn't bother to read the texts. Until I found that most of the clues and plots were in it. I WAS 10 at that time.
As my UPSR was nearing and I still love the game very much, I always asked my mother tons of bombastic old English words since the game was set in medieval time. Mother was convinced with my excuse of building my vocabulary by playing the game. Mother was a B. Malaysia teacher but she's half-English and she's ultra fluently in 3 languages; Malay, English and Angry. Then in the middle of 1996, after my debut in "Di Mana Joe Jambul", father decided to put a password in the PC.
The scene where the sorcerers failed to bind Pyros, just because you forget to bring your own candle. :RELOAD:
I missed the game very much, that I decided to practice Sorcery at the back of my house. No daemon was managed to be summoned, but hey, I managed to start a fire and burned a lorry at the workshop next to my house! I considered this game as the father of Diablo and the grandfather of Fallout. Fallout resembles the game very much, and I like both very much.
Screenshots from the interweb, I did not capture any from my game.
Ultima 8 links for general information.
