Hey, this is my post for the Tiger Blogfest 2010. Since I just started to work, I tried to find some free time to write this. So, then I thought writing an entry about the tigers would be easy. I thought it would be easy as composing a karangan UPSR entitled "Haiwan Peliharaan Saya", which I just put the tiger as my pet. It's not.
Tiger, an animal so unique it always been related as a symbol of bravery. You can see the tiger almost everywhere here in Malaysia, The National Emblem and Coats of Arms of Malaysia, the Royal Malaysian Police logo, military regiments logo (Grup Gerak Khas aka the green beret for example), the tiger head on Proton Waja, Maybank's logo, Esso, Biskut Tiger Susu, yada yada yada. Yeah, you can see the tiger everyday in your life. The question is, have you seen the real tiger?
Well the easiest way to see a tiger is to cough up 20 or more Ringgit at Zoo Negara. At Zoo Negara you can see a few tigers and other animals. Unfortunately, going to the zoo isn't always fun as there are other BINATANG throwing kacang and kayu to the animals. Trying to be cool in front of their aweks. Bolow punya olang!
Last time I went there, I was so lucky to have one of the tiger swimming just INCHES away from me. I even captured a video of the event.
The tiger liked me and if anyone wondering, I still have my body parts intact. No news about the Arab guy next to me though~
Tiger is a magnificent animal. A tiger cub can be very cute and cuddly. Unfortunately, things can be always be cute as an adult tiger can be very dangerous. Unfortunately, this doesn't stop the poachers from killing them. Tigers are killed for their eyes, hair, organs and their penis for the unproven medical values. Some believe eating tiger brain can even cure pimples and laziness [1]. Wow, imagine a bowl of Sup Torpedo Rimau. I'm not sure whether it can help you make a nice Sarong or blanket tent in the morning without the use of wood or tent frame if you know what I mean WAHAHAHAHA!
The poachers contribute a lot in decreasing the number of tigers in the wild. The wilderness is now not a safe place for the tigers. If I'm a tiger, I'll choose the zoo to live without fear. But living in zoo is like living in someone else's home with a lot of people watching you doing stuff. Why don't you let me live in my own jungle without fear.
The tiger is our national animal. Our heritage. But today only less than 500 of them remain in the wild. As Malaysians, we need to stand up and protect our heritage. Speak to your children. Speak to your leaders. Everyone of us can make a difference.
